Literature Focus Units

Literature Focus Units are when teachers and students read and respond to one text together as a whole class or in a small group. Teachers choose the text that will be read in these groups, it should be from a high-quality literature selection. After the reading has been completed the students will go over the text that they just read. They can talk about it in their groups and make sure that everyone has understood the text. the next step would be conducted individually. Each student will apply what they have read and what they learned by creating a project about the text. There are many strengths that go along with Literature Focus Units they are as follows: teachers develop units using the reading process, teacher's can select picture books or chapter books for their unit, teachers scaffold reading instructions as they read with the whole class, and students are able to explore new vocabulary and literacy language while doing this activity.
